Memorial Cup and Divisions One and Two
In the rescheduled Memorial Cup semi-final, Sam Cant’s hat-trick helped W&B win 8-0 at home to High Park, with Kade Woodford (2), Harrison Taylor (2) and Alex Wright ensuring the win. They will face Cowes Sports Res in the final.
In Division One, Harry Green’s double saw Osborne Coburg win 2-0 away at West Wight.
Cowes Sports Res won 6-2 away at Vectis, with Cowes’ goals from Joe Calder (2), Euan St John (2), Sonny Myram and Rafi Wightwick.
In Division Two, in their first season back, Oakfield secured promotion after winning 5-1 at home to Newchurch. Jamie Phillips gave Oakfield the first-half lead, and Ollie Hammond, Ben Gardener (2) and Nathan Roberts goals ensured victory, despite Nick Weedon’s penalty getting the visitors back into the match.
Macca Barnes, Mack Blacklock and Josh Richardson were on target for East Cowes Sports in their 3-0 away win at Niton.
Combinations One and Two
In Combination One, table-topping West Wight Res won 7-1 at home to Brading Res, with Jordan Flynn (3), Josh Craig, Harry Dye, Jason Moore and George Saunders scoring for West Wight.
Northwood Res won 3-2 at home to Osborne Coburg Res, with Corrie Stafford and Brad Gamble netting for Osborne.
In Combination Two, goals from Aaron Youngson, Josh Parsons, Tyler Larbalestier and Chaz Broadbent secured championship-seeking Oakfield Res a 4-2 home win to Sandown & Lake A, with consolation goals from Sam Coe and Michael Smart. Sandown’s Simon Spragg was yellow carded.
Jordan Maloney’s hat-trick, two from Louie Ramage and another from Felix Gordon saw West Wight A win 6-2 at home to Ventnor A, with Rhys Burtenshaw and Harley Kennett on target for the visitors.
Wessex
Cowes lost 4-2 at home to Christchurch, with both consolation goals coming in the second half, a Scott McFarlane tap-in from a corner, and an own goal after Ryan Oatley’s cross.
Newport grabbed a point in the 2-2 home draw against Ringwood. Ji Nash netted in the first half, with skipper, Maca Watterson, headed home mid-way in the second half, before player-manager, Martin McDonough, was sent off for 2 yellow cards.
Vics lost 4-2 away at Division One champions, New Milton, with goals from Josh Neale’s free-kick and Harrison Yate’s penalty.
Women
Wight Eagles narrowly lost 4-3 at home to Winchester City Flyers, with 2 goals from player-of-the-match, Millie Tinsley, and another from Tawnie Siddall. They finish the season one place above the bottom 2.
Fixtures
This weekend, in Division One, Brading face Shanklin in a rearranged match (at 1pm), W&B welcome Vectis (1pm), Osborne Coburg are home to Bembridge, and Ventnor entertain West Wight.
Ryde Saints are home to Oakfield, and High Park host Sandown & Lake in Division Two.
In Combination One, West Wight Res host Osborne Coburg Res, W&B Res play High Park Res (3.30pm), and Brading Res welcome Bembridge Res (4pm).
Combination Two sees Bembridge A home to High Park A, West Wight A welcome Vectis Res, and Ryde Saints Res host Niton Res.
