A happy event took place at Northwood Hall yesterday, as 80 members of the Women’s Institute (WI) gathered to honour the remarkable work of their organisation across the Island. The tea party provided the perfect opportunity for local branch officers to come together, exchange stories, and share updates on branch activities.
The event was hosted in a warm and lively atmosphere, with laughter filling the hall. The guest of honour, Island High Sheriff, Graham Biss, shared in the celebration alongside his wife, Sue, chairman of the Isle of Wight County Federation of Women’s Institutes.
The celebration also provided an opportunity to present Lesley Wilcox a bouquet, to mark her stepping down as a long-serving WI advisor to the local team.
There was no chorus of ‘Jerusalem’, the WIs’ traditional hymn, but guests enjoyed a spread of delicious teas and treats, a hallmark of WIs’ gatherings. The conversation ranged from updates on ongoing projects to light-hearted exchanges about their collective experiences.
