With the help of Sport England, Newport Rowing Club raised over £10,000 to improve their club house on the bank of the river Medina.
Over the last eight months, all the planned work has been completed, including underpinning the building and replacing the slipway, as well as an internal refurbishment of the club room. Where necessary, professionals were engaged, but much of the labour was provided by the club members.
To show off the completed work, the club is hosting an open morning on Monday (May 6), from 9.30am until noon. They will also be demonstrating their rowing prowess. A limited number of taster sessions can be booked, by emailing chairman@newport-rowingclub.co.uk
