The Isle of Wight Gundog Club held its spring open show at Ryde Academy, with more than 70 entries, including several more unusual gundog breeds, such as the Spanish Water Dog and the Lagotto Romagnolo.

Although there were a number of mainland entrants, Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show awards both went to local exhibitors.

The winner was a cocker spaniel, Cooleela Operation Dynamo Wightroche, owned by Cheryl Blackley and Ian Salero, from Newport. Reserve Best in Show was a German shorthaired pointer, Winterwell Little Itch, owned by Kathryn Bunker.

The judge for best in show was Betty Smith, and for other breeds judges were Gill Smitherman and Sharon Bergin.
