Join the Island’s first farming conference

Farmers, land managers, and rural professionals on the Isle of Wight are being encouraged to attend the inaugural Isle of Wight Farming Conference, 2025. Taking place on Thursday, 27 February, at East Afton Farmhouse, the event, themed ‘Striking the Right Balance,’ will focus on providing practical advice and insights to help farmers overcome modern agricultural challenges.

Organised by Natural Enterprise, the conference boasts an impressive line-up of speakers, including experts from the CLA, Ellen MacArthur Foundation, NFU, and Southern Water, who will cover critical topics such as sustainable farming practices, climate resilience, subsidies, and land use. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage in panel sessions, network with both local and mainland farmers, and visit exhibitors showcasing services designed to strengthen Island agriculture.

Highlighting the importance of nurturing the next generation, Graham Biss, managing director of Natural Enterprise, notes, “Investing in the future of farming is crucial. With sponsorships secured, we’re proud to offer 10 young farmers and 10 new entrants free attendance, connecting them with industry leaders and mentors.”

Surplus proceeds from the conference will benefit the RIWAS Rural Careers Fund, which supports training and development for the Island’s farming community.

Tickets, priced at £15 (including lunch and refreshments), are available via iw.observer/farm-conference. Early booking is recommended to secure a place.
