IW College student wins Young Painter of Year

 

Matthew Hall, who studies at the Isle of Wight College, was declared regional winner at the South West final of Johnstone’s Trade Young Painter of the Year, which was held recently at Bournemouth & Poole College.

Johnstone’s Trade Young Painter of the Year has been running for 15 years and aims to find and inspire the next generation of painters and decorators. All competition entrants must currently be studying either an NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Painting and Decorating or a Diploma in Construction Level 2.

Matthew won a prize bundle of leading supplier tools as well as £200 in cash. Greg Perkins, for tesa UK, which sponsored the event, said: “We would like to congratulate all of the South West entrants, especially Matthew and Rebekah for finishing first and second respectively. We hope to aid and inspire the success of young painting and decorating talent for many years to come.”
