First race of RVYC season

The Royal Victoria YC scow fleet enjoyed their first race of the season last Thursday.

Race officer, Rod Hall, set a challenging course from the club line in light airs. Twelve boats came to the line in light winds and sunshine and a competitive race took place with much place changing.

Chris Gear showed the early way, but by the race’s end had been passed by Dare Barry, followed by Helen Gatehouse, and sailing a borrowed boat into third place, Phil Russell.

Mills Whishaw sailed with her father for her first race helming and did well to get round the tricky course.
