The people of East Cowes rolled up their sleeves on Friday to give the town a much-needed spruce-up, as part of the latest rubbish networking event, organised by NOSY Creative Agency.
Around 40 volunteers of all ages took part, clearing litter from the beach, streets, town centre, and community spaces. By the end of the day, multiple bags of rubbish had been collected and the town was looking cleaner and brighter.
April Turner, NOSY’s operations director, said: “We organise these events to show how small environmental actions can add up to a much bigger impact. It was great to see so many families join in and, by the time we’d finished, the town looked much cleaner. It’s about connecting people, building pride, and making a positive change to where we live.”
The event was supported by Betapak Ltd, who supplied all the equipment and ensured the waste was disposed of responsibly.
Among the volunteers was East Cowes Town Councillor, Cameron Palin, who praised the event for bringing people together. “It was a great experience to meet so many like-minded people, and conversations came naturally while we made a real difference to our community. These events reimagine how networking can be done,” he said.
Rubbish networking combines community action with the chance to meet new people, blending environmental care with social connection. Organisers hope the success in East Cowes will inspire more towns to take part in future events.
