Flour power was out in force when dozens of members of Freshwater Bay WI turned up with home-made cakes for a coffee morning that raised more than £650 for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
The event was organised by Gay Grieve, of Freshwater, in memory of her late sister, Lynda Pike, on what would have been Lynda’s 70th birthday. Both Gay and their sister, Elaine Blackwood, are members of Freshwater Bay WI, as was Lynda, making the gathering a chance to reminisce as well as a fund-raiser.
Members came together to remember Lynda – and other loved ones lost to pancreatic cancer. The hall was filled with laughter, chatter, and the comforting clatter of tea-cups, as friends shared memories, and enjoyed the impressive spread of cakes baked specially for the occasion.
