Champions Coburg keep clean sheet at Sandown

With continued success for leaders Whitecroft & Barton (Division One), Osborne Coburg (Division Two), and draws for East Cowes Sports (Combination One) and Bembridge A (Combination Two), Shanklin’s Ryan Hill celebrated a hat-trick, Wessex sides enjoyed mixed results, and injuries impacted the additional midweek fixtures as the season reaches its finale.

Island Leagues

Leaders W&B continued their unbeaten season with a worthy 15th win, beating Vectis 2-0 away. There were goals from Matt Evans and one from Sam Cant, who was later sent off. Second-placed West Wight won 1-0 away at Cowes Sports Res, benefitting from an own goal.

Callum Fryer and Shaun Gulliver scored for East Cowes Sports, who won 2-1 at home to Brading. Bembridge won 4-0 at home to High Park, with goals from Charlie Broadbent, Josh Field, Conor Plenty and Aaron Youngson.

In Division Two, Osborne Coburg were crowned champions after winning 4-0 away at Sandown, with two goals from Mark Taylor, and one apiece for Liam Reynolds and Harry Green, with a player-of-the-match performance from Jack Davies. Seaview lost 2-1 at home to Newchurch, with Keith Rust and Ethan Brierley scoring and Brandon Stainton getting ’Church’s consolation goal. Second-placed Wootton won 3-0 away at Ryde Saints, with two goals from Macauley Barnes and another from Nick Anstey.

In Combination One, W&B Res won 3-1 away at Brading Res, with Barney Snaith hitting two and Brad Cantelo one. Nick Gregory scored for the Romans early in the game.

Second-placed West Wight Res shared a goal-less draw with East Cowes Sports Res.

A Ryan Hill hat-trick, with two from Jason Smythers, saw Shanklin Res win 5-2 at home to Binstead COB Res. Binstead’s Jordan Love and sub, Joe Salmon, scored before being red-carded. Keeper, Alek Przespolewski got involved with disputed decisions.

Northwood Res won 5-1 at home to Osborne Coburg Res, with strikes from James Butt, Berie Watson, Kian Mooney, Jake Cook and Connor Mooney. Two goals from Brad Jackson, and one apiece from Ethan Jones and Dylan Andrews, saw Sandown & Lake Res win 4-1 away at Vectis Res, with Stan Stymes scoring the consolation goal.

In Combination Two, leaders, Bembridge A, drew 3-3 away at 2nd-placed High Park Res. Phil Shuro’s first-half goal saw Wootton Res win 1-0 away at West Wight A. After a goal-less first half, Niton Res won 4-0 at home to Newchurch Res, with a goal apiece for Ollie McLoughlin, Tony Potts, Brandon Epps and Adam Reuben.



Premier side Cowes finished the league season drawing 1-1 away at Petersfield, with an Ollie West header from a corner to equalise in the last 10 minutes.

In Division One, East Cowes Vics won 2-0 away at Romsey, with first-half goals from Jacob Reynolds and Ji Nash. Newport lost 2-0 at home to Downton.


Weekend Fixtures

In Division One, Brading welcome Ventnor, W&B travel to Binstead COB, and Shanklin entertain Northwood. Vectis are at home to Bembridge, and West Wight host Cowes Sports Res.

In Division Two, Niton welcome Sandown & Lake, with Newchurch home to Wootton.

In Combination One, Bembridge Res are at home to Binstead Res, ECS Res welcome Ventnor Res and Vectis Res play Osborne Coburg Res. Northwood Res travel to W&B Res, and Shanklin Res visit Brading Res.

In Combination Two, Ryde Saints Res are home to High Park Res, West Wight A travel to Seaview Res, and Niton Res entertain Bembridge A.

In Wessex, Vics welcome Frimley Green and Newport will travel to Andover.
