Island Roads, on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, has closed Church Lane from its junction with Yelfs Road to its junction with Union Road.
This is for emergency works by SSE to restore service, although there are currently no power cuts listed on their website.
A diversion will affect Union Street, Esplanade, St Thomas Street and Yelfs Road.
Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed and it will reopen as remedial works are completed
