Autism on the Water (AOTW) will be one of the official charities during this summer’s Cowes Week, which takes place between August 2-8.
Founded in 2016, AOTW is the only charity in the UK which specifically provides sailing and motor-boating opportunities to people of all ages on the autistic spectrum and their families, giving them potentially life-changing experiences in a safe, fun and stress-free environment.
Bob Trimble, chairman of Cowes Week Ltd and Cowes Combined Club, said: “We have been aware of the great work that it does as an entirely volunteer-run organisation, and we fully support the charity’s aims and initiatives.”
Murray MacDonald, founder and director of AOTW, added: “It is a privilege to be supported by such an iconic British sailing event. Alongside competing at the regatta this year, we will also be running many free sailings and motor-boating trips, and we’re planning some surprises too! We’re looking forward to a week of exciting racing and shoreside fund-raising activities.”
AOTW will be joining the RNLI, which became an official charity partner last year.
