Win with Quarr Abbey and the IW Observer

Capture Quarr Abbey’s beauty, and win the final photo competition of 2023!

The IW Observer has got together with Quarr Abbey to offer Islanders the chance to show their talent and creativity. The competition is free to enter and open to all ages and skill levels.

You can submit your entries in four categories: Child aged 10 and under, Student aged 11-18, Amateur, or Professional. We’re looking for stunning images of the abbey grounds, buildings, animals, or native flora and fauna. Any photo taken in any public area from today until the end of the year is eligible!

This competition is a celebration of a remarkable new photographic exhibition showing the history of Quarr Abbey which will also feature images of life there today and will run from January 18 to 30.

Submit your best shots by midnight on December 31st. The winning entries will be framed and displayed as part of the exhibition, and also printed in the IW Observer.

As a winner, you’ll be invited to the exhibition’s official launch and treated to a delicious lunch or afternoon tea for you and three guests in the abbey’s tea shop. Pluss each winner will receive a special hamper. The Student, Amateur and Professional photographers will be treated to a selection of mouth-watering local produce sold in the farm shop. The winning child will receive a very special craft hamper.

To enter, simply email your photos (maximum size 22MB) to tracy.osborn@quarr.org or you can drop off printed copies at Quarr Abbey’s farm shop or tea shop (marked for Tracy Osborn’s attention) or to the IW Observer’s new offices at 104 St James’ Square in Newport (next to Barclays Bank).

Don’t forget to include your name, contact details, and the category you are entering. Winners will be announced by January 7.

Just a few notes: drone photographs are not eligible; the judges’ decision is final and there is no cash alternative to the prizes.

So grab your cameras and mobile phones, and head over to Quarr Abbey to capture some truly stunning shots.
