Ventnor Scout Christopher Ducker has been selected to represent the UK as part of the team delivering the World Scout Jamboree in Poland next year.
Christopher will be among 600 volunteers selected by UK Scouts to help stage the international event, which is expected to bring together more than 50,000 Scouts from nearly every country in the world.
The World Scout Jamboree is held every four years in a different country and gives young people, aged between 14 and 17, the opportunity to experience different cultures, make international friendships and take part in outdoor activities.
As part of an International Team, Christopher could be involved in running activities, supporting cultural exchanges or helping to deliver large-scale events celebrating the diversity of global Scouting.
Christopher said: “I can’t wait to represent the UK in Poland. Scouting gives me a place to belong and a place to have adventures. It’s going to be amazing.”
Chief Scout Dwayne Fields said: “Congratulations to Christopher and all the UK volunteers heading to the World Scout Jamboree in Poland.
“Opportunities like this are what Scouting is all about, bringing people together, building confidence, and showing young people what’s possible when they step outside their comfort zone.
“The Jamboree is more than an event, it’s a chance to connect with the world, to learn from different cultures, and to come back inspired to make a difference at home. I’ve no doubt Christopher will grab this experience with both hands and make the most of every moment.”
The 26th World Scout Jamboree will take place in Gdansk, Poland, in 2027.
