Our competition to win an Isle of Wight Council Green Garden Waste subscription attracted lots of entries.
The IW Observer teamed up with the Isle of Wight Council to give our readers the chance to win one of two annual subscriptions, worth £96 each. Subscribers to the optional scheme receive a 240-litre wheeled bin or three reusable hessian sacks, to be picked up from the kerbside every fortnight.
To be in with a chance to win, entrants had to answer the question: ‘During the full year 2020/21, how many tonnes of waste did the Isle of Wight Council send for composting?’
The correct answer was a massive 4,005 tonnes. The two lucky winners are Janice Johnson of Newport and Nick Langford of Ryde. On hearing of her win, Mrs Johnson said: “Well, I’m blessed!
“It’s rather a surprise and I’m very pleased. I still enjoy clipping all the shrubs in my garden so it will be very useful. I will be going for the reusable hessian sacks as my sister uses them and they are very handy.“Mr Landford said:
“I’m very pleased to be one of the two lucky winners of a garden waste bin for the coming year. It will be put to very good use. Thank you.“
