This week’s cricket report in brief

Ryde won their revised target match at home to Old Gravesendians by 5 wickets, with the visitors setting a target of 145-5, with Ash Goldsmith taking 2 wickets. In reply, Ryde openers, Matt Webb (52) and Nathan Day (50), both retired, as the Island side reached their target in the 27th over.

Ryde welcome Martinstown on Saturday.

Ventnor enjoyed success in their friendly against Spye Park tourists, winning by 90 runs after posting a score of 202-7. Openers Ben Attrill (29) and Ben Fry (23), shared a 51-run partnership, with Brett Hassett adding 49, and Charlie Calloway 51 not out. The visitors were all out for 121, with wickets shared by Ollie Cheeseman, Jinu Poulose, Isaac Borman, David Paul, Brett Hassett, and, in a rare over, veteran Mark Price.

Ventnor have a friendly at home to Weston, from Hertfordshire, and Luton Caribbean, at the weekend.

Shanklin & Godshill lost by 1 wicket to Haywards Heath, and face touring side, Martinstown, at the weekend.
