A bookshop is one place you might expect to find impeccable spelling, but above Medina Bookshop, in Cowes, this Christmas shoppers will spot a sparkling sign spelling out ‘Buckshop’.
The festive display, featuring a proud reindeer silhouetted against a starry night sky, has raised more than a few smiles among passers-by. Regular visitors may also remember last year’s Christmas tree, created entirely from disused car hubcaps.
The sign was designed and created by bookshop manager, Paul Armfield, who said it was part of a wider effort to add colour and character to Cowes during the festive season.
“Ours is just one of many creative and eye-catching displays in Cowes this Christmas. It’s a wonderful opportunity to provide some spectacle, some fun and entertainment on the High Street, to make people smile, and hopefully draw more shoppers to Cowes,” he said.
The traditional Medina Bookshop carol recital, performed by the Medina Community Choir, takes place at 5pm on Sunday, December 21, around the Christmas tree at the bottom of Market Hill in Cowes.
