‘Significant number of social workers’ interested in moving here

The Isle of Wight Council say a “significant number of social workers” are interested in moving to the Island.

Staff from adult and children’s services attended the two-day Community Care Live at London’s Business Design Centre last week, as part of a joint recruitment drive.

A significant number of social workers who visited the council’s exhibition registered an interest in moving to the Island to work.

Organisers said the council’s recruitment approach was impressive and professional, according to the council.

Simon Dear, service manager for strategic development and commissioning children’s services, said: “Our display proved very popular with the conference goers.

“Social workers from adults and children’s social care were on hand to talk directly to attendees about their positive experiences of working for the council.

“We explained the support available and how the council helps staff with their professional development within the organisation.

“It was our first time at Community Care Live but it was a really successful way of showcasing everything the Island has to offer to social workers.”
