Sandown Bay CE School has introduced Pickleball to the Bay.

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles, made of wood or composite materials, to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a Wiffle ball, over a net.

Lloyd Attrill, founder of the new Pickleball store, said: “We are based at West Wight Sports Centre and want to enable more people to take part and enjoy the game. It is fun and exciting for all ages and is quickly becoming one of the most popular racket sports in the world.”

Pickleball player, Chris Fletcher, added: “The Island has several players of a national standard and we want to develop the community facilities at the school as a sporting hub for the Bay, as well as encourage other sites across the Island.”
