Division One

Ryde Rankers 8 v Havenstreet A 2, Newport Vics B 0 v Ryde A 10, Ryde Goshawks 4 v Ryde B 6

Ryde Rankers have closed the gap further on league leaders Ryde C after an 8-2 win against Havenstreet A. The Rankers’ Hugh Idle and Lewis Johnstone were unbeaten, whilst Havenstreet’s Michael Bulpitt and Tom Johnson both won against Graham Evans.

Meanwhile, Ryde A, who are in third place, closed the gap on the Rankers after a whitewash of Newport Vics B, with Scott Lawson, Rob Smith and Mark Turner all unbeaten.

Division Two

Havenstreet B 5 v Ryde Revellers 5, Newport Vics D 1 v Ryde Rising Stars 9, Ryde Detonators 6 v Ryde Rascals 4, Ryde Quintet 9 v Shorwell Spinners 1

Division Two leaders Ryde Revellers met 4th-placed Havenstreet B in the match of the week. Havenstreet’s Paul White was on fine form, winning all his games, including a five-set thriller against Spike Hughes, who heads the averages table. White’s team-mates, Carl Rye and Paul Stringer, won one each, and the match ended in a draw.

Ryde Detonators met club-mates, Ryde Rascals, in another close match, with the Rascals’ Peter Clarke and the Detonators’ Bernie Forward both winning two each, whilst Elaine Mills of the Detonators was player-of-the-match and unbeaten. With the Detonators taking the deciding doubles in four sets, they won the match 6-4.

The youngsters of Ryde Rising Stars enjoyed a 9-1 thrashing of Newport Vics D, with Jye Lock and Theo Lewis unbeaten, and Thane Taylor winning two.

Division Three

Shorwell Saints 6 v Ryde Frogs 4, Wroxall Warriors 8 v St Lawrence Lizards 2, Ryde Rustics 0 v Ryde Retailers 10

The tables have turned in Division Three, as St Lawrence Lizards who were much fancied to return to Division Two after relegation last season, have slipped into third place after an 8-2 loss to Wroxall Warriors.

However, Wroxall’s lead at the top looks precarious as Ryde Retailers have sped up the table recently, and this week enjoyed a 10-0 victory over Ryde Rustics. The Retailers are now only four points behind Wroxall, and with two games in hand are now looking the favourites for the title.
