PATCH trustees, Erika Arnold and Ros Barrow, were invited by Ventnor Inner Wheel president, Jane Goodlet, to tea with members at Luccombe Hall Hotel, Shanklin.
To complete a memorable afternoon, PATCH was presented with a cheque for £1,500, raised by the Inner Wheel during the past year.
Erika said: “We were quite overwhelmed and gave the Inner Wheel one of our special Heart of Ventnor awards.”
Erika started PATCH (Peoples’ Approach to Cancer Help) over a cup of tea, with her friend, Diane Landon, in 1989. The charity helps Ventnorians and other local residents with the travel costs they face after receiving a cancer diagnosis. They became a registered charity in November that year, and Ros became a trustee in 2009. The charity has no administration costs so every penny donated goes directly to help somebody with cancer.
