A joint Summer Concert, featuring the West Wight Dementia-Friendly Choir and the Berryland Belles, from Surbiton, was a big success at Christ Church, Totland.
The Berrylands Belles exceeded all expectations with their songs including ‘What was I made for’ and ‘We are the voices’, conducted by Bec Gresson, with piano accompanist, Richard Wilkins.
Songs with the West Wight Dementia-Friendly Choir, led by Pam Wedgwood and accompanied by Richard Britton, brought out flying kites, waving scarves, cymbals, drums, a duet by Pauline Burton and Whitty Whitwam, and much enthusiasm from the audience who all joined in.
More than £750 was raised through donations and the Berrylands Belles donated a further £790 from their work on the mainland. These proceeds are helping to facilitate more dementia-friendly choirs on the Island.
