Island fund-raiser, Jamie Hindson, made his June donation to The Way Forward programme, in Newport, continuing his pledge to give £100 each month to a different Island charity throughout 2025.
The 34-year-old met with Tracey Hill, CEO of The Way Forward, at the organisation’s base on Daish Way. She gave Jamie a tour of the centre and explained the services on offer, including activity programmes for young people and support for adults with additional needs.
Jamie said: “It was a pleasure to meet Tracey and learn more about the work they do. I was made very welcome and could see how much the centre means to those who use it.
“My monthly donations are all about supporting young people’s mental health and well-being, and I hope they make a small difference.”
The Way Forward supports clients through respite care, community support, and one-to-one packages.
Jamie’s earlier donations this year have gone to Mountbatten IW in January, Better Days Café in Ventnor in February, Care in the Garden in Wootton in March, Daisy Chains in April and The Holt in Newport in May.
His fund-raising history includes a half marathon in 2021, which raised £1,000 for local mental health causes, and a sponsored YMCA sleep-out in 2013, which raised more than £2,000.
Jamie plans to continue his monthly donations for the rest of 2025 and will choose his July recipient in the coming weeks.
