Regular readers of the IW Observer will notice that today, and in future editions, we will be publishing public and official notices for the Isle of Wight Council.
Following a recent tendering exercise the council found that the IW Observer offered larger circulation and better prices than the Isle of Wight County Press (IWCP), where it has always published these notices in the past.
We distribute 18,500 copies of the IW Observer across the Island every week – while the IWCP’s circulation is less than 10,000 copies. Readers can also sign up for a free digital copy of the IW Observer at iw.observer/subscribe.
The County Press, which is ultimately owned by a huge international media company, also costs £1.50, while the IW Observer will always be free for our readers – and we are still able to offer better prices! Publishing public notices with us means that the official information is more accessible, while profits from the Island’s favourite newspaper remain on the Isle of Wight. To support the new contract, the IW Observer team has have also developed a map of the Island that shows where planning applications have been submitted, so that you can easily check what is going on near your home. You can see the map at iw.observer/planning.
We have also asked Island Roads whether they would like to enter into a tendering process for the official notices they publish.
