The annual charity Towers Party has raised around £50,000 for Cure Parkinson’s.

The party, hosted by John Caulcutt, in the grounds of his home next to the Royal Solent Yacht Club in Yarmouth, was held during the club’s recent Taittinger’s Sailing Regatta.

This year it featured musicians including White Hot Pipes, John Summerton – who now plays in Herman’s Hermits, singer and actress Juliette Howland, Beagles, John’s own band – Step on the Gas and White Gates.

The event was promoted by the Yarmouth One Design Association, and John said: “The numbers of people attending were down because of the weather, which prevented several of the yachts from taking part in the regatta.

“Thankfully, those who attended were very thirsty and spent a lot of money in our gin and rum bars! It was a great evening and I opened our tennis court for people to play on and we had pétanque on the lawn. There was also a laser show and firework display, so people really enjoyed themselves.”
