A Sandown biker made an emotional trip to the National Memorial Arboretum to pay his respects to members of the Armed Forces, who have lost their lives serving their country since 1945.
Buster Spicer was one of 7,000 bikes and a total of 12,000 bikers and their families, who attended Ride to the Wall, in Burton-on-Trent, on October 7. He said: “This was the 16th year the event has been held and I have been to the last 14. It was a very emotional and poignant day and quite a few people were reduced to tears.
“It’s our way of paying our respects and remembering the 66,000 people whose names are on the wall.
“There were prayers led by a padre and Gary Glaysher sang some songs. The event was organised by Martin Dickinson, who first started it 16 years ago with just a handful of bikers attending. Now there are thousands, with some riding over from Europe to join us for the occasion.”
