Three members of Sandown & Shanklin Lions Club have been awarded the Melvin Jones Humanitarian Award, one of the highest awards at club level.
Helen and Michael Spencer raised funds to open a home for teenage mothers in Mombasa, and club secretary, Janet Mackay, received the honour for her charity work, along with the District Governor’s Award for the weekly car boot sales she organises.
The awards were presented by Lion Ann Huntley, on behalf of the District Governor, at the White Lion in Arreton. The award presentations were followed by a meal and social evening.
