A celebration of the Isle of Wight’s natural beauty is set to take place on Sunday, as part of the Heritage Coast to Coast project led by Creative Ways Outdoors.
The event marks the conclusion of a three month community programme encouraging residents to connect with the Island’s two designated Heritage Coasts: Hamstead and Tennyson through art, movement, and walking. These unspoilt stretches of coastline are among only 43 heritage coasts recognised across England and Wales for their exceptional landscape and ecological value.
Creative Ways Outdoors, headed by husband and wife team Chris Slann and Frankie Goldspink, have brought together a wide partnership including the Isle of Wight National Landscape, National Trust, Equals IW, Yes! Creative Beats with Viva Carnival Club, and the IW Walking Festival.
The public is welcome to attend two free celebration events on the day. From 11am to 1pm, Newtown Old Town Hall will host a showcase of creative responses to the Hamstead landscape. And from 3pm to 5pm, there will be activities at the Compton Bay NT car park.
Walkers can also take part in guided routes marking the final day of the 2025 IW Walking Festival, including two short trails and a new 8-mile route connecting both sites.
“This has been a truly enriching experience,” she said: “We’re proud to share the work and welcome all to join in.”
