Six young Islanders from the IOW Youth Trust Taskforce travelled to Parliament on Monday, July 14, to speak at the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Youth Affairs, discussing the impact of social media on young people.

Lily, who turned 16 on the day of the visit, and Molly both gave presentations, alongside national representatives from Catch22, Off the Record Youth Counselling, Scouts, The Mix, and the Sea Cadets.

The group were welcomed by Island West MP, Richard Quigley, who gave them a tour of Parliament, including visits to the galleries of the House of Commons and House of Lords while both chambers were in session.

The visit was organised by Paul Savill, network and information co-ordinator at the IOW Youth Trust, who said: “We had an amazing day taking part in the discussion with MPs on the Youth Affairs APPG, meeting other young people with similar views and issues, and learning about the democratic processes and barriers to getting our youth voice heard.”
