The Apollo Theatre will open its doors next week to a modern play that is sure to grip local audiences![]()
Based on the best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins and the Dreamworks hit movie starring Emily Blunt, The Girl on the Train tells the story of Rachel Watson, an alcoholic woman in her mid-thirties, longing to escape her past, who becomes fascinated with the seemingly perfect life of a beautiful couple by the names of Scott and Megan Hipwell.
One day Rachel witnesses something shocking unfold in the backyard of the stranger’s home and becomes involved in a murder mystery herself.
The mystery/thriller promises to keep the audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish and is packed with twists and turns in every direction and will be the first time it is performed in front of an Island audience.
Arts manager and director of the play, Helen Reading said: “It’s been an absolute joy to direct this cast for The Girl on the Train. From the first rehearsal, I knew I had a hard-working, creative, and intelligent team wanting to do their best.
“We’re only a week away from the first night and I can’t wait for the audiences to see it.”
The performance will run from September 6 to 14, excluding Sunday and Monday and also on Saturday 7 – due to an invite-only special gala performance.
Tickets are now available £10.00 for adults and £5 for students and can be purchased at the Apollo Theatre or via iw.observer/girl-on-the-train
