Island Climate Coalition plans lantern parade for Newport

The Island Climate Coalition is planning a lantern parade in Newport on Thursday (December 13) to highlight the global ‘Planetary Crisis’ we are currently living in.

Organisers said it will be a call to compassion for the planet and hoped the initiative will shed some light on the issue.

Similar event organised in Reading, Berkshire, in 2017

Tanja Rebel, one of the event organisers said: “We are in a Planetary Crisis and people across the Globe are taking action to highlight the urgency of the situation we find ourselves in. The Lantern Parade is an Island wide initiative to shed some Light on the issue and to spur the General Public – as well as our Political Representatives – into further action.”

Anyone who would like to attend should meet organisers at St James Square at 5.30pm on Thursday (December 13).
