Holi charity night at Lakeside Hotel

Jessy Gulati and Sally Grylls

An Indian-themed fund-raiser for Mountbatten and the Dementia UK Admiral Nurses (IW) Appeal will be held at Lakeside Hotel on Saturday, March 7, to coincide with the Hindu festival of Holi.

Hosted by Jessy and Arun Gulati, the evening will celebrate Indian culture while raising funds for the two Island causes. Guests will be welcomed from 6.30pm with a cocktail reception, before taking their seats at 7.30pm for a three-course meal followed by Bollywood-style dancing, alongside some traditional English favourites.

The event will open with a classical Indian dance performance by Shree Dance Academy. Additional attractions during the evening will include henna hand painting, a photo booth with Indian headgear, and a silent auction to raise further funds. While organisers stress that coloured powders associated with Holi will not be thrown, guests will have the option of a small token of colour on the forehead or cheek if they wish.

Mountbatten provides hospice, end-of-life care and bereavement support for people across the Isle of Wight. Dementia UK funds specialist Admiral Nurses, who support families affected by dementia. The Island fund-raising group for Admiral Nurses was founded by Lady Grylls in 2013.

Organisers hope the celebration will become an annual event supporting both charities.

Tickets cost £80 per person, including welcome drinks, dinner, and entertainment. For more information or to book, contact Jessy Gulati at jgulati59@gmail.com, or call 07531 306693.
