Hundreds of people took part in the Appley Day activities, at Ryde on Sunday.
The event, hosted by Friends of Appley, and supported by Ryde Town Council, offered something for everyone with High Sheriff, Jacque Gazzard, attending to judge the sandcastle competition.
Youngsters enjoyed big bubbles, outdoor games from the Sea Scouts, and woodland crafts, while wildlife enthusiasts met groups, including the Isle of Wight hedgehogs, and join guided walks, including a dusk bat walk.
Around 40 people took part in a tree identification stroll as part of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, with some trees decorated in clay faces.
There were also tours of Appley Tower, activities with Oakfield Primary School, and a silent disco on the beach.
Zoe Thompson, who facilitated making tree clay faces, said: “It was fantastic to see children get so engaged and imaginative with the process, and the adults start off by reluctantly saying they’re ‘no good at art’ to being really proud of what they create! It really was a brilliant community day.”
Estee Phillimore, from Natural Enterprise, who manage Appley Tower for the community, added: “It was a joy to see so many people exploring the Tower, enjoying the art, joining the tours and treasure hunt and getting creative with sandcastles. The atmosphere was fantastic!”
