Going Electric event returns to Newport Quay

The popular Going Electric show is back for its fourth outing on Saturday, August 31, bringing a full day of energy-efficient inspiration to Newport Quay, from 10am to 4pm.

The free event showcases a range of local businesses, including Island car dealers, solar panel suppliers, heat pump installers and other champions of low-carbon living. But this year’s show also features three speaker sessions at the Riverside Centre, offering practical insight and a glimpse into the future of sustainability.

First up, at 11am, is EV Insight, with Louis Vannasche from Leslies Motors, Motability specialist, Dan Hillier-Mears, of Premier Motors, and Anthony Molley, who leads fleet electrification for Co-op supermarkets.

At 12.30pm, Future Homes takes the stage, featuring Laura Stichbury from the Island’s fuel poverty charity, The Footprint Trust, eco-architect Alistair Barr, and energy retrofit advisor Stephen Cockett.

Finally, at 2pm, The Big Picture brings together Fran Collins, current CEO of Red Funnel, climate education expert, Dr Andrew Lee, and Tristan Harris from community group Together for Mission Zero.

Each session runs for an hour, with half-hour breaks in between. Entry is free, and visitors can take advantage of free parking at the Riverside, County Hall and Seaclose car parks.

Whether you’d like to find out more about electric vehicles, planning a greener home, or just want to hear from those planning a sustainable future for the Island, Going Electric will provide an interesting and informative day out.
