Suki needs love and a new owner

Suki

Suki, the 15-year-old cat, who had been bullied so much by a neighbourhood cat that she feared going into her own garden, is looking a quiet Island home with someone who can share love and patience.

Mel Read, manager at Cats Protection Isle of Wight Cat Centre, explained: “For most of Suki’s life, she had a home with an owner who loved her, she knew the comfort of routine, the safety of home, and the love of an owner who understood her ways and needs.

“But then things began to go wrong. A neighbouring cat was tormenting Suki, leaving her too frightened to go outside, and that wasn’t a situation that could go on any longer.”

Work commitments often kept Suki’s owner away from home for long hours during the week, and she saw that Suki was finding life stressful.

Sensing that things needed to change if her much-loved cat was to enjoy life again, she made the tough but sensible decision to sign her over to Cats Protection in the hope of a better future for Suki.

However, after six months, Suki is still waiting for a loving home, and Mel added: “Sadly, things haven’t moved as quickly as we would like. Suki didn’t cope with life at the cattery so we moved her to stay with one of our experienced fosterers where she is blossoming.

“But we need to find a permanent home for Suki, with someone who has time to help her settle and enjoy life in her senior years.”

The charity is appealing for a quiet home with access to a garden, where playful Suki can watch butterflies and enjoy a nap in the sun.
