Free advice on how to stay warm and save

A new service, EnergyWise, has launched on the Isle of Wight, offering local homeowners advice tailored to their needs, helping them make their homes warmer and cheaper to run.

This service includes an in-depth assessment of each property, using thermal imaging cameras to evaluate the efficiency of heating systems. Following the assessment, home-owners receive a comprehensive energy performance report and retrofit plan.

The advice provided will include recommendations that can be implemented at little or no cost, along with a medium-term plan for further home improvements. The service also offers assistance with applying for government grants to support the upgrades.

This initiative is unique to the Isle of Wight in its scale, and local residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity before the scheme concludes in early 2025. The project, funded by the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero, is delivered by Green Isle of Wight CIC, as an expansion of a programme currently being run by Testlands in Southampton.

Lisa Beaney, managing director of Green Isle of Wight CIC, said: “I’m thrilled we can offer this service on the Island. It is the missing link that will enable people to make a material difference to their lives.”

Luke Newman, of Testlands, explained: “Working with local organisations means we can deliver this innovative programme to people that will really benefit.”
