Double for Palmer as Yarmouth SC return to water

Yarmouth Sailing Club’s first official race of the season was held under social distancing procedures to comply with Government instructions, with 10 Scows and one RS Zest starting.

Martin Palmer got away best with Graeme Bowen close behind but contending with over zealous bargers. By the upwind B mark it was Martin followed by Graeme. The second time around the order was the same with John Smith settled in third position, and that order continued to the finish.

The following day 10 Scows and three mixed class dinghies approached the committee boat start in Mill creek. Martin Palmer got away best with Niall Wallace and Alan Toms well placed in pursuit. After A and D marks Niall briefly passed Martin but by C, Martin was back in charge. Second time around Graeme Bowen passed Niall and was chasing Martin to the finish. John Smith, moving well down wind, also caught and passed Niall. Final result was Martin, Graeme then John.. YSC will now continue its 2020 race programme using social distancing procedure.
