A Cowes town councillor has announced his resignation this week saying: “Island councils have meetings to arrange more meetings.”
Cllr Michael Paler, a former sports photographer who travelled the world, has served two years at Cowes, having been three years on the East Cowes Council, where he was a former Mayor.
He confirmed to the IW Observer: “I leave the Cowes Town Council with good will and will still be active around the town.
“There are projects I am working on which will make things happen across the Island.
“Island councils have meetings to arrange more meetings. This is not the way to move forward. Stepping down will be a positive move because councillors get into so many situations which don’t reflect well on them.
“In December, I will be starting the Eden Project Communities which will cover the Island and I have already arranged several projects. I have also been involved to get Wight Horse CIC to become a charity with more community involvement.
“My projects will help businesses, charities and education. So going forward, good people will have a positive impact on our future.
“I’m looking forward to this new freedom to make a difference for all.”
