Shanklin welcomed bowlers from across the Island, with appreciative spectators enjoying a weekend of high-class competition for Island Cups.
In the Men’s two woods singles, Plessey’s Max Bearman beat Sandown’s Paul Attrill 18-11, with his brother, Jude Bearman, narrowly losing 21-20 to Shanklin’s Robbie Hayes in the four wood singles. Max overcame Jude 22-18 in the U-24 singles final, with the pairing also going through in the U-24 pairs to Leamington nationals later in the year.
Totland’s Keith Gosden and Steve Crockett won the pairs, Shanklin’s Robbie Hayes, Darren Griffith and Travis Meller won the triples, with Shanklin also securing the fours with Robbie Hayes, Darren Griffith, Tony Lloyd and Travis Meller.
The senior fours were won by Shanklin’s Martin Poland, Keith Beckett, John Strain and Ron Leleux. Ryde Marina’s Ladies’ four of Leen Hampshire, Cherry Rolf, Sue Green and Anne Bernard were also victorious.
Leen Hampshire won the Ladies’ two woods, Anne Bernard secured the four wood singles. Sue Green and Sam Williams won the pairs, with the triples going to Leen, Sam, and Anne, on a great afternoon for Ryde Marina.
Bembridge’s four of Debbie Small, Allison Maundrell, Carol Wolton and Gay Allen won the fours beating Shanklin’s quartet of Julie Jackson, Viv Williams, Pat Cracknell and Tracey Hughes.
