Burger King finally coming to Island

An official application has been made to the Isle of Wight Council to open the Island’s first Burger King.

A planning application has been submitted to open a Burger King and 24-hour gym at Coppins Bridge in Newport, a site in which Cineworld, Pizza Hut and KFC are currently located. Maplin and Office Outlet, both formerly located on the site, have closed within the last year.

The plans, submitted by Otium Properties, may see the creation of over 50 jobs in a drive-through restaurant.

It is hoped that further leisure businesses could be attracted to the Coppins Bridge complex, and that the new units would help make the town centre a more attractive shopping and leisure destination for retailers, showing confidence in the potential growth of Newport and acting as a catalyst for further regeneration and investment.
Plans for a Burger King on the Isle of Wight had previously been mooted in February of this year, only to be denied the following day.
