Bobby Scheme to aid vulnerable residents

By IW Observer.co.uk Apr 18, 2022

The Blue Lamp Trust is running a safety scheme to support vulnerable residents across the Island.

The Bobby Scheme provides free home-security visits, long-life smoke alarms and advice to vulnerable people, particularly the elderly and victims of burglary and domestic abuse.

A full crime-prevention and fire-safety survey is carried out by one of their specialist trained, police-vetted, fitters, providing both general and specific crime- and fire-prevention advice to improve home safety. When appropriate, their fitters will fit items such as locks, spy-holes, door chains and smoke alarms, etc. The service is completely free.

The Bobby Scheme can also supply and fit police-approved key-safes, for a small donation.

The scheme is free for those who are vulnerable due to age (over 65), circumstance, disability, or have been a victim of household crime.

Anyone can make a referral including individuals, friends, family, doctors and social workers via the Blue Lamp Trust website, bluelamptrust.org.uk/bobby-scheme-landingpage, or call 0300 777 0157.
