Bale of Hay gets national support

Island punk band, The Pill, has released their debut single ahead of a summer of south coast performances and shows in Oxford and London.

Bale of Hay has already gained national interest and has been played on BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X. John Kennedy, of Radio X, said (of The Pill and their new track): “Sounding fantastic I think. Can’t wait to hear more from them.”

Bale of Hay is described by the band as a ‘noisy checklist about the realities of being blonde’.

Fronted by singers and guitarists, Lily Hutchings and Lottie Massey, the Pill’s line-up also includes Rufus Reader on drums.

Bale of Hay was recorded at Empire Studios, in Newport, and was produced by Rob and Jim Homes – who are known as BoeWeaver. A spokesman for the band said: “It’s so exciting to have our debut single out now! Making music and being creative with your best friends is the most fun and we’re so grateful to be doing it. It’s been a long time coming, but the reception has been amazing and we’re so excited to start our creative journey as The Pill.

“We wrote Bale of Hay back in early 2020 and it’s so crazy that she’s now out in the big blue. May our child grow and prosper.”
