Dear Editor,
It has been perplexing to witness prominent political figures blurring the lines of basic biological definitions, raising serious concerns over their grasp of fundamental issues.
Sir Keir Starmer’s assertion that 99.9 per cent of women “haven’t got a penis” not only invited ridicule but undermined confidence in his credibility. Equally troubling is Lib Dem leader, Sir Ed Davey’s claim that women “quite clearly” can have a penis, a statement that left many questioning his commitment to truth – or even his sanity.
As for the Conservatives, Kemi Badenoch now claims that all along she believed that trans women were never women. What a pity she didn’t even try to amend the law when she was the Equalities Minister to make that clear. Is she opportunistic or just ineffectual?
Surely voters have a right to expect better from our political leaders. They really should demonstrate a stronger connection to reality – and the views of those they claim to represent.
This whole sorry saga has shown them all up for what they are. Political pygmies with no substance and few genuine beliefs.
Not one of them deserves their positions and it is little wonder that people have turned away from mainstream parties.
Whilst we should be glad that the matter has been settled by the Supreme Court, did we really need judges to tell us that men should be barred from women’s toilets and changing rooms – even if they do have a piece of paper that says they have somehow changed into women.
