Shanklin have reached their third cup final of the season, winning 5-2 away at Steyne Park, with both sides missing players.

Shanklin took an early lead through a close-range Kyle Drew effort, against a competitive Bembridge side, including Cowes Sports’ Jez Conway and Newport’s Scott Sampson equalising through Charlie Broadbent, going into the break at 1-1.

In the second-half, Shanklin’s Wayne Newnham appeared to have fouled the keeper to give Shanklin the lead, but the neutral linesman saw no infringement and ref Matt Sainsbury awarded a game-changing goal. Shanklin began to take control of the game and George Carter-Knight scored the first of his two goals, first with a left foot shot from the edge of the penalty area and, five minutes later, a volley for 4-1.

Michael Brown got a consolation goal for ’Bridge and it looked like there may be a late comeback, but Shanklin sub Ji Nash’s shot passed the keeper to score in injury time for 5-2 and secured Shanklin’s place in the Memorial Cup, playing Brading Town on May 17.

Whitecroft & Barton travelled to Ryde Saints to win 3-0 with goals from Aiden Sainsbury, Sam Yelland and Liam Slaven, and Brading were awarded an away win at Niton.
