An enterprising group of students from the IW has earned national recognition after securing a place in the London semi-finals of the Young Enterprise competition.
Paws of Wisdom, a student-run business formed by military and public service learners at the IW College, first gained local attention during the IW finals in April. Their range of instinct-based pet enrichment toys captured the judges’ interest through a thoughtful combination of creativity, educational value, and genuine care for animal welfare.
Despite finishing second, the team advanced to the Southampton regional finals where they competed against the south’s leading student companies. They refined their business pitch and received valuable professional feedback, which helped them progress further. Their hard work paid off when they were selected to move on to the London semi finals, taking place on May 21, marking a proud moment for both the students and their college, as they prepare to represent the Island on a national stage.
Speaking on their journey, the team said: “It’s been a transformative experience from an initial idea to standing among the country’s best young entrepreneurs. We’re proud to promote purposeful play that supports pets’ natural behaviours.”
Paws of Wisdom continues to develop its line of interactive pet products, with a strong focus on enrichment and emotional connection between pets and their owners.
The team now hopes to grow their Young Enterprise project into a lasting venture.
