Mila donates her hair to Little Princess Trust

By Press Release Jul 21, 2023

A six-year-old girl is having her flowing locks cut and donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust.

Mila Roper, of Freshwater, who attends Shalfleet School, has never had her hair cut before. But today (Friday), it will be cut into a short bob at Jojo’s Unisex Hair and Beauty, Totland.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as alopecia.

Mum, Dawn, said: “Mila has recently spoken about cutting her hair which is very long, as she has never had it cut. Her grandma told her about the Little Princess Trust and how she could donate her hair to them to make wigs for poorly children who have lost their own hair.

“Mila is a loving and kind little girl who shows so much empathy towards others at such a young age. After learning about this charity, she decided she wanted to go ahead with cutting her hair so ‘the poorly children can have hair again and make them feel better.’

“We felt it was a great opportunity to raise some extra funds for such an important charity.”

The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

The Little Princess Trust relies solely on the generosity of its supporters, and Mila also has a Just Giving page and has so far raised around £350 for the charity, including sponsorship. You can help Mila reach her target at iow.life/mila.
