The world’s last sea-going paddle steamer, Waverley, will be sailing along the South Coast, including visits to the Island in September.

The Paddle Steamer Preservation Society is hosting an open meeting to which all are welcome, at East Cowes Town Hall on next Saturday (April 6), at 2pm when this year’s presentation will be given by Waverley’s purser, Andrew Comrie.

Andrew, still in his 20s, has a life-long fascination with Waverley and, as a boy, never dreamed he would, one day, work on board as an officer, following his studies at Strathclyde University.

At the meeting Andrew will disclose details of Waverley’s programme, which include sailings from both Ryde and Yarmouth Piers.

There will an opportunity for shorter cruises but sailing round the Island is a special attraction as is along Dorset’s Jurassic coast.
