Girl power at Legoland

Legoland Windsor has been taken over by Girlguiding.

This was no ordinary takeover but just for one day, when thousands of girls and their leaders descended on the attraction.

All the rides and Legoland models were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone attending but there were some very special events for girls from the Island. Laura Cottey, Girlguiding’s chief commissioner for south-west England, was pleased to make presentations to a number of Island girls and young women. Linda Stone, Island commissioner, led some Promise ceremonies as did Laura.

Six Island units attended the event with more than 100 girls and leaders making an early start to enable them to have a full day at Legoland. With perfect warm and sunny weather, it was just the right time to take those rides and enjoy all the fun.

Receiving her Young Leader Award from Laura was Erica Hiscock from Newport. Erica is a young leader with 1st Carisbrooke Guides.
