From criminology to engineering – explore what’s new at IW College

The Isle of Wight College is opening its doors tomorrow (Saturday), from 10am to 2pm, offering prospective students, those who are interested in a change of career, and those who are just curious, an opportunity to see what the college has to offer.

The open day will take place across both the Newport and Whippingham (CECAMM) campuses, giving people the chance to meet tutors, explore cutting-edge facilities, and discover new opportunities.

Highlights of the day include the unveiling of the college’s immersive healthcare training rooms at Newport, which use virtual reality to simulate real-world medical scenarios for those who want to pursue a career as a paramedic or nurse. Over at CECAMM, visitors can explore state-of-the-art engineering facilities, including a new extension, which is part of the South Coast Institute of Technology.

Attendees will also get a preview of exciting new courses launching in 2025, such as the T Level in marketing, Level 3 criminology, forensic science, craft engineering and more. For adults looking to expand their skills, the college offers practical short leisure courses, in areas like green plumbing, woodworking and car maintenance.

Whether you’re a school-leaver considering your next step, an adult wanting to upskill, or simply interested in finding out more, the open day is an opportunity to experience, first hand, what is available at The Isle of Wight College.
