Former Ryde lifeguard, Annie Carrick, has been selected for Team GB in the mixed double sculls (PR3) in Paris in August.
Annie has said: “Being born with cerebral palsy has meant I have had to overcome a number of challenges that most people don’t have to deal with.
“I am excited about the future, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. I hope my journey will inspire others to pursue what they are passionate about!”
The former head lifeguard in the summer months, worked with and was encouraged by Todd Miller at the Waterside Pool. Annie discovered rowing at university, and was accepted into the GB Paralympic Training Programme.
Todd Miller said: “Annie is a true legend, a credit to Ryde and the Island, and we all wish her well in Paris.”
